I’m new to blogging so you probably don’t know me very well.  Something that drives me crazy is cleaning the shower/tub. 

I used to hate it because the shower head would only reach so far and it was hard to rinse the cleaner off the shower walls.  So now I fill up a large bottle with a pull up lid (like a syrup bottle) and squeeze the water where the shower head won’t reach. 

Problem solved!  Now I can clean the shower without swearing. For more ideas check out Rocks In My Dryer.

We had a terrific time on our trip to Mexico but are still feeling the pain of sunburn.  (I swear, I did put sunscreen on every 30 minutes but I’m fair-skinned and still got burnt.)  My husband was really really burnt and is now peeling.  His burn is still stinging and so I whipped out the vinegar when we got home to give him some relief.

Yes, I said vinegar.  To take the burn out of your sunburn, soak a cotton ball in vinegar and then rub it on the burned area.  Or, run a cool bath, pour in one cup of vinegar and soak for 15-30 minutes. 

Vinegar is definitely a multi-tasker at my house.  I use it to clean, mop and even use it instead of softener in my washing machine.

I love candles.  There is something so relaxing about watching a candle burn and inhaling its aroma.  What I don’t like about candles (because I’m sure you’re dying to know) is the black soot that can be left behind on the glass.

I finally found a way to remove the soot from my candle jars…rubbing alcohol!  Just take a cotton ball saturated with rubbing alcohol and wipe the soot away.

And now that I’m finally over that miserable flu my whole family had/has, I plan on lighting a few candles and taking a bath!

Have I mentioned that I make super fabulous homemade pizza?  It’s all thanks to a terrific recipe I found for pizza crust.  Let’s just say it’s “the one”.  The one I will use from now on.

Friday night is pizza night at our house.  My husband loves toppings but with two little ones (almost three and 14 months) I often get interrupted while chopping.

A couple weeks ago I discovered I can use my egg slicer to quickly and easily slice mushrooms and black olives.  I already used it for eggs (obviously) and strawberries.  I’m pleasantly surprised at how much time this saves me.

What do you use your egg slicer for?  Anything else I haven’t tried yet?

Picking up toys is the bane of my existence.  Ok, not really, but it does drive me crazy.  Cupcake (2 1/2) and Sprinkles (13 mo.) love to play but didn’t think picking up was much fun.

So I made a “job jar”. I used a container my hand could fit into and that also had a lid.  (I used a baby food cereal can.)  I wrote out different jobs on colored paper, cut them into slips and put them in the jar.

Some examples of jobs are:

• Pick up dress up clothes and put them in the toy box
• Pick up Barbies and put them in the toy bin
• Put books back on bookshelf
• Put together puzzles and store on shelf

The girls pick a job or two before lunch and bedtime.  They are very cooperative if I help.  Sometimes it would be quicker to do it myself, but I really want them to learn how to pick up after themselves.  So I am taking the time now to teach them and they are eager to learn at this age.

They are usually excited to take a turn picking a job and “getting” to pick up their toys.  It’s working like a charm for now.
